RAF and England Distance Runner

Eddie Ellis, on the right. Eddie was a star long distance runner who handled mostly One Mile and over including Cross Country. He later ran for the RAF and England on several occasions. Cross-country team was Eddie, Randy Wastell, Joe Dennis and three others. They were responsible for many trophies adorning the library at school. On the left of the picture is Jones from Bishopshalt Grammar who was the only man to occasionally beat Eddie. 1946photo, names and info from JM Dennis Eddie Ellis was a good athlete - used to give all of us a start and still win the cross country. He joined Thames Valley Harriers and became the first athlete, English record holder, to break nine minutes for the 3000 metre steeplechase.
