Eddie Ellis was a good athlete - used to give all of us a start and still win the cross country. He joined Thames Valley Harriers and became the first athlete, English record holder, to break nine minutes for the 3000 metre steeplechase. When he misbehaved, which was often, they used to stop his sport lessons!!
